Report: Mexican Cartels Fuel Firearms Trafficking

“It’s all that other context that you have to use to prove this thing that on paper appears legal was a crime,” Thomas Chittum, former associate deputy director of the ATF said. “That’s why firearms trafficking cases are hard to make. Catching a felon with a gun is easy.”

Firearms trafficking is a serious crime but one that can be hard to detect, investigate, and prosecute. Really well researched and supported piece by Sean Campbell and Topher McDougal in The Conversation U.S. on this complicated issue. Was happy to offer my two cents.
